Arsenal Will Never Bounce From A Match To Another Again!

After leaving Arsenal and joining Manchester united, Van Persie was put to task about his decision during a media conference and his response summarized Arsene Wenger failure at Arsenal. He said, “at arsenal, we were just bouncing from one match to another, no change of tact”.
Bouncing from one match to another was Wenger’s main weakness. When he started his arsenal career, Arsene Wenger introduced a new philosophy “football should be an art” and he worked on building an entertaining game, but then as football kept on evolving, he found himself torn between adapting a new ruthless approach or maintaining his style. This was even more disrupted by his move to build a new stadium which meant reduced budget for more talent. To adopt this and fit it to his philosophy, Wenger turned to developing talents. We can accredit the success of so many young talents who he developed and incorporated into the first team but they all lack a very important component- ‘KILLER INSTICT”.

Without a plan to cause “harm” on the opponent, Wenger started growing a "social media" team. He seemed to love players who complete passes, rather than those who exercise creativity. He now had young boys who trains how to pass, not to take risks. This is where he lost it!
The approach of entertaining football is inward-looking. Very little attention being given to what the opponent is doing. His after-match interviews would be “we played well, but made mistakes”. Yes, you make a mistake in football because you were exposed to the enemy. You didn’t prepare for him, you prepared for your game- “the art”

Unai Emery is coming with a new philosophy. This is a man who is very keen on details. Those who have worked with him says he watches lots of videos and uses them to prepare for the next game. This is completely different from Wenger’s approach.

At PSG, Emery faced a difficult situation. An over-expecting board and egocentric players who enjoy the backing of the board. At some point, he said “Neymah is the PSG boss”. The board was for “you win the Champions league or go” while the likes of Neymas wanted him to respect them, not to push them. The new coach of PSG has said he will build his team around “the artist Neymah”, and that is what Emery couldn’t do because he prepared for matches.

Up to Arsenal, Emery won’t face such challenges. He will have time to do his best. He will again be running his matches from the touchline and force  the players to deliver. You can watch this space- Arsenal will never bounce from a match to another.

What about Regulating YouTube Content?

Kenya has decided to copy the Tanzanian way of bullying and controlling the online space freedom. From the controversial Computer and Cyber Crimes Bill which criminalizes publishing “hate speech” and “fake news” both of which aren’t well-defined in our existing laws, now the Kenya Film and classification board has moved on to target YouTubers, or the so-called Vbloggers.

According to the new regulation, now you have to register and pay to own and run a YouTube channel!

1. Work under (register as) a filming agent--K.shs12,000pa
2. License for a documentary, short drama/feature/stills--K.Shs5,000
3. License for full length feature film (>40minutes)--K.Shs15,000
4. Per day filming fees--K.Shs1,000

So, one would ask themselves, why should they pay to run a vblog while probably YouTube isn’t paying them anything?

One would wonder, where does the mandate of Mr. Ezekiel Mutua start and end, because the internet space isn’t limited and if Mutua stopped enterprising Kenyan Vbloggers from making money online, he can’t stop the Nigerias from running theirs. Are these regulations not made to curtail the freedom of young Kenyans who have been making money by creating and sharing short firms via YouTube?

YOUR TAX RETURNS BEFORE IT’S LATE

Kenya Revenue Authority has a target of KSH 1.44 Trillion and you could be on their radar if you don’t do the necessary – file your returns on time. Only 2.4 million workers and businesses filled their returns last year and this year, the authority is determined to ensure more compliance and crank their whip on those who try to evade tax.

Remember the deadline for filling last year’s returns is on 30th June. So, get  your P9 form from your employer if you are salaried and use it to file your returns. If you are self-employed, it is very important that you declare your income and pay your tax accordingly.

Last year, the penalties for not filling returns were increased from 1,000 kenya Shillings to 20,000 kenya Shillings and the authority is working on enforcement modalities to catch up with those who haven’t been complying.
If you earn anything between Ksh. 0 to KSh11,135 per month can now file nil returns, you can file nil returns but remember that the authority will be checking your pin to ensure you haven’t been involved in taxable activities.

If you really want to be on the safe side, never take chances. It’s equally dangerous to rely on unskilled cyber cafĂ© attendants who have little or no knowledge at all about filling returns and rather rush through the process without checking all details.

Always get somebody who can advise you about different types of returns, obligations under your pin and how to do them right.

How To Make Yourself Work When You're Not In The Mood

Life as a freelancer has its fair share of challenges. One being that you are your own boss and thus must wake up and work under pressure from within. No boss to give you instructions and no work colleague to motivate you. To be honest, we rarely have written set targets and this is mainly because it’s our ghost clients who set our work timelines. Some times you will have a project that has a 4-days period another 4 hours or so. The worse thing is that we have freedom to accept to deny any project- so you are never under pressure, not unless you have pressing bills to pay. But that is not even the challenge - we all have those days we wake feeling low and disoriented.
I remember days I wake up with completely no nerve for working in me. I get to facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Whatsapp, Google + and so on, particularly looking for nothing.
I cross over to my living room to tease my girlfriend, pitch my daughter’s nose and such other silly things just because I don’t feel like doing anything productive. There were times this was eating up a lot of my time, until I decided to research and understand ways of getting myself back to work moods. Below are a few suggestions which have been of great help to me:

1.      Start with the small things- In one of the most inspiring speeches of our time made by Admiral William McRaven, he says that if you want to succeed in life, start by making your bed(sic). How significant is making your bed? Well, that is the basis of starting with the small things- one completed task inspires you to start another and another and another, and before you know it, you have done everything you had to. How about if you started your day with making a cup of coffee or tea for yourself? Clearing your sink or even moping your room- as little as it may sound, it will put you in moods to work

2.      Tell yourself you are working – another simple thing. Isn’t it? Place your hands on your keyboard and tell yourself that you are working. Say it loud if you can and copy the force yourself to write the first sentence of your long essay. This will send a precise signal to your mind that you have to get this one task done

3.      Promise yourself a break- we all love feeling good, relaxing and doing the things that put least pressure on ourselves. So, how about if you told yourself that you will have some quality time after finishing the task at hand? Definitely, your mind will shift focus to the feel-good moment ahead and find it easy to concentrate and finish the task at hand soonest possible

4.      Put yourself into the right moods- productivity as so much to do with what is going on in our subconscious mind. If you feel low and disoriented this is all coming from thoughts running in your sub conscious mind. Put yourself to mood by putting on some smooth music that will help you let go and reconnect with the high you.

5.      Use a timer- we are all conditioned to work hard when we feel under pressure. Get your timer and set time for yourself, watch the clock tick and you will feel come excitement in you and urge to race against time- this will be a wonderful starter

Declaimer: we all have different personalities – and what works for you might not work for me. So be true to yourself. You can start by trying one or a combination of these techniques, but the most important thing is understand yourself and what turns you on!

#merciArsene

Generally, without this man Arsene Wenger, Arsenal could be just another team. Maybe a Burney, maybe Everton or even Stock City (just relegated). For 22 years, he has managed to build arsenal football club to be in a class of its own, with a culture of playing good football. But every good thing has an ending.
Recently, I have been watching lots of boxing as well- from Flyod Mayweather to Antony Joshua, and I have realized that

just like boxing, football is no longer about how fast you can attack, but how adept you are in defending yourself. i have watched good boxers like Manny Pacquiao losing, despite attempting a thousand times to hit his opponent. I have also watched teams losing despite maintaining an 70-30 possession...
YES, it's end of an era at the Emirates stadium, how I wish we can see a change in our football philosophy as well.

..about this one thing!

Some people start blogs to make money, others for fun but I do it primarily as a personal diary.
We all have those moving thoughts- sometimes happy thoughts, other times sad. There are times we feel political, other times subtle. There are moments we feel like fighting, other times fleeing. And then there are things we all want to share about ourselves. This is a quick summary of the things I blog about.
I have been through trenches, and writing has been one of the things I have used to vent myself.  It’s about life- it’s about that one thing- blossomed by thunder.
Let me welcome you with this extract of a timeless piece by Lao Tzu, The Tao Te Ching

Being and nonbeing produce each other.
The difficult is born in the easy.
Long is defined by short, the high by the low.
Before and after go along with each other.
So the sage lives openly with apparent duality
and paradoxical unity.
The sage can act without effort
and teach without words.
Nurturing things without possessing them,
he works, but not for rewards;
he competes, but not for results.
When the work is done, it is forgotten.
That is why it lasts forever.

Wish, Wait, Never Give Up

Good things may come to those who wish. Well, it happens, though not often. Better things come to those who wait, probably become they keep their mind positive. But the best always come to those who never give up. You see, wishing is never certain, but pegged on luck and that is why there is that adage that goes if wishes where horses, beggars would ride. I wisher is a beggar. He or she pegs his hope on fate. They might be prayerful, if religious, but they always pray with one eye open – looking at possibilities out there.

Then there are those who are born patient, those who wait. To them, everything comes in its own time. They are never pushy, because they have a strong belief that good things come in their own time and because of their positive mindset, they often attract better things.

Lastly, we have the resilient folks. These are people who have been fire-tested. They have seen the good and the worse, but manage to keep their heads held on high. They just never bow. You can never break them, even if you drag them to hell and back. They fear nothing, and are thus risk takers. They won’t sit and wait for the sail; they swim to catch up. This group is unstoppable, and those many of them fall in the battle grounds, those that survive conquer the world.

Pacquiao won the game, but lost the match

The much hyped fight has ended some minutes ago in MGM, Las Vegas. The judges made an unanimous decision that Mayweather has won. well, the three judges gave these  results; 118-110 ,116-112, 116-112.

For those who woke up very early to watch the "super fight", though it es delayed to 7, we felt Pacquiao won. Mayweather kept running, dogging the rig with the composed and high motivated Pacquiao followed him with offensive attacks. PACQUIAO shared the same sentiments. "It was a good fight. I got him many times. I saw the punches. I thought I won the fight. He is moving around, it is not easy to throw a lot of punches. I can handle his power. He is not strong like some others. He's not bigger than me, the size doesn't matter, I have fought bigger guys". he said.

Mayweather has won by judges decision, but Pacquiao has made a mark in history of boxing as well as making his opponent for the first time to confess that 'there is a God'.
"First off, I want to thank God. I want to think all the fans around the world. This was a hell of a fight. I take my hat off to Manny Pacquiao, now I see why he is one of the guys at the pinacle of boxing. I am truly blessed. Manny Pacquaio is truly blessed. I am a calculating fighter. He is a tough competitor. I had to take my time with him. My last fight is in September" Said MAYWEATHER, still in disbelief that he has won.
But as the noise dies down, i think pacquiao won the game but lost the match. He was able to control the mood of the biggest boxing event and almost everyone on his side. Yesterday Mayweather was booed by his home fans with Pacquiao receiving an applause as they were being weighed.  Pacquiao controlled the game, punchining at will and pushing his opponent to corners. The mood of the arena was also pro-pacquiao. And anyone could see the mood when he was declared to have lost.

"BATTLE OF THE CENTURY"- The Money-man Vs The PacMan

The big fight. The fight of the century is only hours away.Floyd Mayweather will take on Manny Pacquia in what is now the richest fight in history of boxing.

The 38-year-old Mayweather, popularly known as the money-man is undefeated from 47 fights and it is said it was a record he was confident of keeping intact. Despite the man having an history of domestic violence having been charged and jailed for 2 months in 2012 for beating his wife, along side another charge of assulting his girlfriend, he now says "This fight is not good versus evil. It is one fighter who is at the top and another."

The 36-year-old Pacquiao, who brings a record of 57-5 with two drawn and 38 knock-outs to the bout, said he was comfortable with Mayweather being considered favorite. "It motivated me more and it helped me a lot and gave encouragement to focus," he said. He is the first and only eight-division world champion, in which he has won ten world titles, as well as the first to win the lineal championship in four different weight classes. PacMan, a devout Christian,  said his main aim in taking on Mayweather in what will be the richest fight in boxing history was to inspire the weak and glorify God.

For more than five years, contractual hurdles and animosity between the camps kept the two fighters from meeting in the ring. But atlast it is now a reality, and this weekend will be in books of history as one of the greatest "fight-day"

Burundi faces danger of a possible genocide

Latest reports from Burundi says that unknown number of people are feared dead after police use tear gas, and live bullets to stop angry protestants from accessing the capital city center.

Police are threatening to close down a local station for  broadcasting live, situation as it is in the ground.

Africans should be stand up to condemn this. It is hypocritical for our big brothers to remain silence too as another African country faces danger of a possible genocide.
