Once again Lamu residents have been attacked this morning. An attack similar to one we experienced barely a month ago. The tactics of attack similar to ones of Mpeketoni. It is when we have been waiting for the government to tell us exactly what happened in Mpeketoni. And now this one, just a day after we saw our security agencies purportedly flushing a group of "militia" recruits from a coastal forest.
At this point in time we must agree that our country is in constant threat both within and without. Politics have created enemies within, whereas our somaliland incursion has created enemies without. Both of which are as detrimental to our development. However, lets be true to ourselves, the greatest threat to any nations development is internal conflicts, not external. I have a feel that not prioritizing this will go down history as the biggest failure of jubillee government.
After Westgate attack, we appeared to have got into a new chapter. We saw both sides of political divide unite to rebuke the act. A commission was to investigate the attack, we taxpayers paid them, but the report never was. Why? That goes down to what we happens here.Then came Mpeketoni Attack, and once more, we proved we are much of enemies of ourselves now than ever. The president claimed it was due to political networks, the opposition dared them prosecute whoever they have evidence against. Later, Lamu governor was in docks, and his party leader Mr Mudavadi claimed the government is taking them as soft targets.
What is happening here whereas innocent Kenyans are dying everyday?Let's face it, our problems never will be addressed in existing political atmosphere. We have to change our mindset and embrace peace amongst ourselves, love not hate, peace not war,www.nunuaproperty.com rather than buy machete
It time the government opens up to calm existing political tension then it will become much easier to counter external threats. However, as the clock ticks towards sabasaba, it remains to be seen.
